Gilroy, California: Gilroy Garlic Festival

Saturday, July 25, 2015

Over the weekend Ben mentioned that there was a garlic festival in Gilroy, California so we decided to drive down to check it out. Surprisingly there were a lot of people attending and the festival was huge! There was garlic everywhere and we definitely got our fair share of garlic.
We feasted on paella, garlic fries, and smoothies (no garlic in this one). There were endless numbers of food stands selling anything that involves garlic and garlic flavored samples spread throughout the festival including garlic infused olive oils, balsamic vinegars, pistachios, and popcorn among others. Visitors can even get free garlic ice cream which we unfortunately didn't get the chance to try since the line was so long.

Overall it was a fun day under the sun and we left with our stomachs full and happy. The garlic festival occurs annually in Gilroy and brings in over 4,000 visitors, which is astounding for such a small town. I highly recommend visiting for the festival!
