Ben and I decided to head off to Mexico for the weekend and
it was our first time in Los Cabos. Having had never been to any parts of
Mexico, I was not sure what to expect. We booked a room at the Sheraton
Hacienda and off we went!
Initial impressions of the resort were pretty good. We had
flight delays so by the time we arrived at 5 or 6 pm it was already dark. We
decided to visit after a massive hurricane had hit Los Cabos so a good number
of the rooms were closed off. So what was the result of this? We were upgraded
to a 4 bedroom suite! We learned that the hurricane had apparently damaged most
of the normal rooms and only the suites were pretty much available. It was way
more rooms and beds than we could have used but the space and patio overlooking
the ocean was absolutely lovely! I could have gotten used to this!
Breakfast with a view
Since our trip was relatively short (48 hours), we mostly
relaxed in the infinity pool for most of the day and drank margaritas
(poolside, of course). The resort had 4-5 pools to choose from so the
possibilities were endless! We took a stroll through the resort and wandered
upon little shops, several outdoor bars, endless rows of villas, and a nice
setting of lounging chairs/umbrellas on the beach. As the resort is on the
beach, you could easily go from the pool over to swimming in the ocean within a
matter of minutes. The sheer beauty of this place makes it a great venue for
weddings (and there were several during our visit) or a honeymoon.

A view of the villas at the resort
Overall, our trip was short but very very sweet. For a
weekend getaway, this trip was absolutely perfect since we booked the trip
during the low season. That means there are less children running around and
crowds. It was hardly a struggle to find unoccupied lounge chairs nestled by
the pool overlooking the ocean.
